Welcome to Newport
Gränge's operations in Newport, Arkansas, date back to 1951. The plant have recent years been subject to significant investments to upgrade its existing mills and equipment. This development has enhanced the plant's ability to produce light gauge aluminium foil and added 20 ktonnes of new capacity to meet the growing demand in the U.S. market.
Four recently commisioned annealing ovens have enhanced the plants production capacity for thin aluminium foil which allows Gränges to better serve key markets, such as converter foil and flexible packaging, with high-quality and sustainable aluminium solutions. The new ovens have significantly increased efficiency by maximizing the utilization of existing rolling mills dedicated to light-gauge aluminium foil production.
Additionally, the investment contributes to a reduced carbon footprint, as the new energy-efficient ovens are powered by renewable electricity. The site i Newport recently became the first of Gränges' three US production facilities to reach 100 percent renewable electricity by securing renewable energy certificates, complementing the solar electricity sourced through the partnership with the regional electricity supplier.
