Tina Zhao – with a character of both north and south
Meet Tina Zhao, IS Engineer in the IT department at Gränges Asia in Shanghai. Before joining Gränges 14 months ago, Tina worked as system maintenance consultant in an information technology company.
Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Tina Zhao. I graduated from Northeastern University in north China. But my hometown is a small city in the southern part of China. That makes me both a cheerful character of northerners and a sensitive character of Southerners. Now I live in Shanghai and work at Granges as an IS Engineer.
How long have you been working at Gränges?
I have been in working at Granges for one year and two months.
Why Gränges?
One of the reasons was that Granges is the leader in the Aluminium industry, which I find very interesting and inspiring.
What is you role/position at Gränges?
I am an IS Engineer in IT department. I provide system solutions to our colleagues and solving their problems is very much part of my daily job.
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
I get up in the morning and say hello to everyone in the office. Then check the emails and go through my daily meeting schedule. I will arrange what tasks I need to accomplish today, then I start to do those jobs. After lunch, which I have together with my colleagues, I sometimes have to focus on some specific issues which need to be dealt with urgently.
What do you like most about your job? What’s the best with working at Gränges?
I learned a lot about metals. The colleagues at Granges are the best, most of them are very kind and willing to help.
If you could change one thing about working here, what would it be?
For me personally, I want to change the working posture from sitting in the chair to standing or walking, because sitting for a long time can make you unhealthy.
What do you like to do when you are not at work?
I like watch movies with my family, and I enjoy the parents-child time in parks. I also like to do some hand-work, for instance I enjoy working on LEGO and small models.
